Makeup Review: L'oréal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation

Hello Ladies!

I'm back with another foundation review. I was very excited to see the drugstore come out with all this new makeup in January. The drugstore seems to be catching up to the matte makeup trend. They have all new matte lipsticks, lipstains, foundations, powder and even setting sprays! I was especially interested in the new L'oréal pro matte foundation. I picked one up in the shade closest to my skin tone and this is my review.
 My shade is Caramel Beige.
So this foundation retails for about $19.99 CAD in drugstores which is pretty expensive for being a drugstore foundation. The foundation comes in a black squeeze tube packaging which I love! It is so convenient and easy and you won't waste foundation this way. The foundation is very matte! Like its no joke. The colour is a little too yellow for me but it applies really great. It sets pretty fast. The one thing I don't like about it is that it transfers so bad. So careful when you're hugging people because you will cover them in foundation. The foundation really controlled my oils througout the day and I got a good 10 hours of wear out of it before it started breaking up around my nose.
I would give this foundation a 7/10 overall. I dont like that it transfers and I think its a little pricey for the drugstore The colour selection is nice but a little too far on the yellow side. Other than that I really like the foundation and I will repurchase it!

Let me know if you've tried this or any of the new goodies at the drugstore!

Makeup Review: Kat Von D Shade/Light Palette

Hello Lovelies!

I have recently acquired this lovely palette. Obviously the trend for this year is going to be contouring and highlghting and so every company is coming out with their own version of contour and highlight powders and creams. This one is by far my favourite from the few I've tried. So on with the review!
The packaging is so beautiful and the quality is phenominal. Its heavy and sturdy and very nice! I always love Kat Von D's packaging, its always very cool!
The box has all the shades and their names on the back which is definitely helpful.
It has a nice large mirror which is always nice.
The shades are beautiful and good for multiple skin tones. So far I've used all of them on my skin and they apply so beautifully with a brush. All of the shades are completely matte and their formulas are wonderful!
So here are the six shades. They are so beautiful and very pigmented. There is a little bit of kick off when you dip your brush into the pan.
Lucid is a is a pinkish tone highlight colour that really brightens the undereye area.
Lyric is a yellow tone brightening powder. It is great for the undereye and corrects some of the darkness.
Levitation is an interesting shade. It is a very salmon-y coral type colour. Still very brightening but I don't use it under the eye. I use it more under my contour.
Sombre is a great shade for contouring. It is a cool tone almost grayish brown that is perfect for creating shadows around the face.
Shadowplay is a great bronzing shade as it is a warm brown. I love using it with a big fluffy brush and dusting all around my face where the sun would give me a nice bronze.
Subconcious is a very deep brown. Not too warm and not too cool either. I use it to deepen my contour under my cheekbones. It is very nice but quite dark for me, so I wouldn't use this everyday. It works great if you want an intense contour.

So there it is, the wonderful Shade/Light palette. Let me know your thoughts and if you own this palette. I recommend it for everyone! It really is worth every penny!

Since youtube is doing this #DearMe thing this week, I thought I would do it on my blog!
Happy International Women's Day!
Enjoy :)

Dear 12 year old Me,

Hey! Whats up? This year is going to be a big year for changes for you. You are preparing to go to a new school and you've decided to start wearing hijab. Well I wanted to write to you to give you some advice. Because boy do you need it right now. I remember the diary posts that you wrote about the awful days at school you had. Wearing the hijab was fairly new to young people and everyone around you didnt get it. Your teacher made fun of you and the boys call you towel head among the many other insults they send your way. It is awful, I know. But I just want to say, be strong. You are an incredible, confident, funny, amazing girl and you are letting people that don't matter get to you. Trust me, here in the future reality hits them hard and yours life turns out pretty good, Alhamdulilah!
I know that right now, the most important thing to you is to wear what your friends are wearing and to try to impress people but you know deep down that it all makes you uncomfortable and it isn't for you. Your mom is trying so hard to tell you that certain fashion trends wouldn't suit you but you force her to buy it anyway because everyone else is. What happened to you being a tomboy that wore jeans and a hoodie and had a blast on the soccer field and basketball court. Those things made you happy and those clothes were ones you felt comfortable in.
I know its easier said than done, but you'll soon find out that all those people you thought were your friends were just bullies. They bullied other girls that you liked and you stood by and watched because you were too afraid to defend them. Until it happens to you. Everyone standing there in a mob chanting awful things at you and you will never feel so alone in your life. It hurts so much and you have this gut wrenching feeling inside your stomach like you're about to faint. People who you were friends with and sharing snacks with an hour earlier are now chanting "UGLY" at you as if they've hated you all along. You will be confused and shocked and hurt but I promise things get better.
You move to a new school and make new friends and while life still kinda sucks up until university, it slowly gets better. You learn how to defend yourself and how to laugh bullies off until they look dumb. You learn to get tough so people don't mess with you anymore. You find outfits and clothes that are unique to you but that make you look good and feel happy wearing. It all gets better, I promise.
You meet an amazing guy too! Something you thought would litterally never happen actually happened! He did a double take when he saw you and then sat down and talked to you for hours! He showed genuine interest in you and you didn't even realize he liked you until your brother had to point it out. You fight for a future with him and while it was the hardest thing you've had to do, it is so worth it now.
I just want to say that everything seems tough to you right now but please don't lose yourself in all of it Be strong and keep that confidence that everyone knows you have! Don't let people step on you because you look different or dress different. They are all going through something awful in their lives and they took it out on you. You may not know it but they were hurting and they thought they would feel better by making you feel worse.
So don't worry now because things will turn out for the better and when you look back at these days, you will laugh!

Makeup Review: Colour Pop "Not a Box of Chocolates" Eyeshadow Set

Hello again!

I am back with yet again, another Colour Pop review! I basically hauled a bunch of their products and I am reviewing them one by one. This set is one to die for! It is the "Not a Box of Chocolates" eyeshadow six pack set. This set came out during the holidays but they still carry it. It is limited edition so get it while you can. The shades all started out limited edition but they have made some shades permanent since then.
Colour Pop packaging is always such great quality and pretty. I dont understand how they make any money considering how affordable their products are!
This is what they look like when you open the box. Even better than a box of chocolates if you ask me! :)
So to start off we have the gorgeous shade called Tinsel. I bought this set just for this shade. I love all the shades so much but this one is absolutely incredible! It is so pigmented and glittery with minimal fallout. It applies great with your finger or a brush. It looks so metallic and pretty all over the lid!
This shade is a stunning light olive green with silver and gold glitter flecks. It is very glittery and I had a little bit of fallout with this shade but I didn't mind since it was stunning on the eyes. It was so glittery and light reflecting and it looks gorgeous paired with deep red and maroon eyeshadows in the crease.
This next shade is a very interesting shade. It reminds me on Mac's Blue Brown pigment and their Club eyeshadow. This shade is very metallic and it has a deep brown base but it reflects green. It is very pretty and looks beautiful on the lid!
This shade is a unique shade. I dont have very many shimmery beige colours. It has a beautiful yellow undertone and looks really pretty for an everyday look on the lid or as a brow bone highlight. I personally don't like putting shimmery shades on my brown bone but if you're about that life, this shade s great for that!
This shade is another main reason I bought this set. I have been absolutely osbsessed with eyeshadows that are this colour (Marsala shades). It is so pretty on the outer half of the lid or all over the lid as well. It has slight shimmer in it and I have gotten a lot of use out of it so far.
I got a little excited and swatched this shade before taking a picture of it untouched first. This shade is so unique. It applies quite matte but in the little pot it has a bit of shimmer in it. It is like a deep purple mixed with black mixed with brown and a deep navy blue. Such an interesting shade and I love it!
These are all the shades swatched with my finger. As you can see they are very pigmented with no primer or anything. They feel so interesting, almost wet to the touch but they look like powder shadows on the skin. Colour Pop has really hit it out of the park with this set! If you want to buy this set the link is here.

Let me know if you have tried Colour Pop products. I recommend them to everyone.

PS: I purchase all my Colour Pop products myself.

Makeup Review: Gerard Cosmetics Lipsticks

Hello Lovelies!

Today I'm here with a quick review on Gerard Cosmetics lipsticks. They are $20 a lipstick but please note there are hundreds of coupon codes that youtuber beauty vloggers provide and also Gerard Cosmetics themselves always have tons of deals going on. I have pretty much only ever paid $10 at most for each lipstick which is honestly the price of most drugstore lipsticks nowadays.
They are packaged so gorgeous in these gold bullet style lipstick packaging. For the price I got them, its a great deal!
So these are the shades I purchased. I personally love the formula of these lipsticks so much! Some are satin and most are matte. The shades in order here are Rodeo Drive, Berry Smoothie, Fire Engine, Cherry Cordial, 1995 and Tequila Sunrise.
As you can see the first shade Rodeo Drive is kind of a slightly sheer satin finish. It looks very similar to Berry Smoothie but it is ever so slightly more pink than mauve. Berry Smoothie is also a satin shade but it is more opaque. The rest of the shades are matte. They apply smooth onto the lips. My only issue with these lipsticks is that their wear time is not as long as I would like a matte lipstick to last. They still last a good 3-4 hours without touching up though so its pretty good!

Let me know if you have tried any of these lipsticks or any other Gerard Cosmetics products!

PS: I have a lot on my plate for the next week or so. I'm going through some personal things and some school things so I will do my best to keep the posts coming but probably not till next week. Thanks again!

Makeup Review: Colour Pop Super Shock Cheek Blushes

Hello Lovelies!

I have been waiting for these babies to arrive just so I could put out a review with swatches! They lived up to my high expectations as usual! I love Colour Pop products so much and these blushes are gorgeous. If you want to buy any, the link is here. They are selling for $8 which makes sense because they are bigger than the shadows and have more product.
This is how their outer packaging looks like. I love their packaging, its always amazing quality and so cute! I honestly don't know how they sell products so cheap, its amazing!
They are slightly bigger than the eyeshadows but they are the same height so they fit perfectly in the Muji 5 drawer. Their consistency is like the eyeshadows. They feel almost wet and bouncy to the touch. They are cream to powder I would say! They have such an interesting feeling and I love it! They are also quite longwearing!
This shade is a stunning cranberry satin finish. It fits under the category of the colour of the year shade called Marsala. Its stunning and right up my alley!
This shade is also a satin finish and the colour is a gorgeous deep coral shade. Absolutely perfect for summer!
This is a gorgeous burnt orange colour in a matte finish. It is beautiful for an everyday touch of colour to the cheeks!
This colour just gives me life!! Its so pretty and it reminds me of strawberry watermelon coloured candy! Such a gorgeous summer shade as well! It has a matte finish.
This colour is a perfect bronzey shade. I have been really loving shades like this lately. It goes really well with a tan (my skin tone) and it warms the face so perfect! I just want to wear this on my cheeks and go to the beach! It has a satin finish.
This shade is a stunning mauve-pink blush that is so perfect! It is a perfect bridal shade or an everyday spring shade. It puts a stunning flush of colour on the cheeks and it also has a satin finish!
These are the shades I bought swatched on my arm. No primer or base is used under them and they were swatches with my finger so obviosuly they won't be as intense if you use a brush.

I would recommend using these with a stippling brush. Elf's small stipple brush is PERFECT for these blushes and it only costs $3. My rating for these blushes is 10/10! I have nothing bad to say about them and I urge everyone to try them!

The Makeup Addict Tag

Hello ladies!

I've been so busy with school lately so I thought I would do this tag to get my mind off of things. Here we go!

1. Which product do you still keep buying more of despite having plenty in your collection?
Lipsticks. I have way too many lipsticks and somehow I keep buying more!
2. What's the one product you can't live without?
I'm sure I can live without my makeup products but one thing I would hate to live without is eye liner. I feel like a black winged liner makes me look so different and I love how my eyes look with it on, so probably that!
3. Favourite makeup brand?
I'm going to say my favourite drug store and high end. For my high end brand I really like Too faced I guess and for my drugstore I love Maybelline!
4. How big is your makeup collection?
Its big for someone who doesn't do youtube. Too me its just right but usually when people see it they tell me I have too much!
5. Where do you store your makeup?
I store my makeup mostly on top of my vanity and in some drawers. I have Muji drawers and lipstick holders as storage. I will be doing a more in depth post on all that soon!
6. How many items of makep do you currently have in your handbag?
I have 7 lipsticks. Mostly from Colourpop and Maybelline. I dont how they accumulate in my purse but they come in handy for touch ups!
7. If you could raid another blogger's stash, who would it be?
Anyone who has the lorac mega pro palette and thats what I would take! Also any blogger who has the Marsala collection because I missed out on that and I really want it now!
8. How long does your usual makeup routine take and how many products do you use?
I would say half and hour to an hour. I love to take my time when I do my makeup and I would say I use about 8-16 products, depending on what I'm doing.
9. Have you ever bought makeup knowing you wouldn't use it?
No, as intriguing as some makeup products are, if I know I'm not going to use it I will not buy it!
10. Tag a few other makeup addicts to do this tag!
I tag all of you lovelies to do this tag!
