Preparing for Ramadan

Ramadan Kareem to everyone out there! It is always such an exciting part of the year and I always enjoy the the unity of Muslims especially in this month. It is such a beautiful thing to see all the families go grocery shopping for their favourite treats that they will hide until iftar. To see all the people attend the mosque at the end of the night to pray Taraweeh together. I just love this month in general and I know a lot of people dread the fast because it is during a hot month this year and days are longer but Subhanallah, God will help us throughout the day and Inshallah you will feel no hunger! Make sure to take advantage of all the extra good deeds this month whether it be from reading Qur'an or giving a small donation. Make it all count! Also all of the shayateen will be locked away so we have no excuse for bad behaviour. This month is all about patience and cleansing your soul. Do your best to hold your tounge from saying bad words or talking about people behind their backs. Also try to forgive those who have wronged you and make amends with those you have wronged. Do your best to take advantage of all this month has to offer and enjoy the special family time at iftar with those you love. Also make sure to set the alarms to wake up for Suhur and to pray fajr. At iftar eat slowly and pace yourself so you don't get bloated before praying taraweeh. Most importantly drink tons of water during the night so you stay hydrated during the day! The last thing you want is a big headache caused by dehydration.

I hope this helps everyone who is looking to fast or celebrating the month of Ramadan. I give you all my best wishes!

A Few of My Favourite Things: May Edition!

It's a little late to be doing a May favourites but I've had a few things that I've had for a while but have been loving especially in the month of May. These are great products for the summer!

These Milani baked blushes have been raved about all over youtube and for good reason! They are so great and the pigmentation is beautiful! I have the shades Bellissimo Bronze, Berry Amore and Dolce Pink. They are so gorgeous and the gold lines that weave through the powder creates a stunning glow on the cheek which makes it perfect the summer!

This foundation is amazing! I used it for my wedding and I bought the bottle instantly. It comes with a pump which is convenient and its great for people with oily skin because it keeps you matte for most of the day. It has a really smooth finish and its coverage is medium coverage but can be buildable to a full coverage. It can be applied nicely with a flat top kabuki brush or a beauty blender. My shade is the colour 123 Desert.

This is the Urban Decay's super-saturated ultra intense waterproof cream eyeliner. I have tried a few different gel liners but this one is my favourite! It applies so smoothly and doesn't tug at your eyelid like other gel liners do. It sets to a matte finish and stays put the entire day.

This is the best makeup creation ever! Especially for a big-brow'd girl like me! I have really thick, bushy eyebrows and I refuse to trim, tweeze, wax, or thread them, litterally nothing! And I have my personal reasons for why I don't do them but either way they get unruly at times so this clear brow gel is a lifesaver. It keeps them put all day and I don't have to touch up at all during the day!

Tiki is an affordable high-lighter from the drug store. It was from the brand Hard Candy and I love it. Drug store bronzers and high-lighters are tricky because the colour is never spot on and they can be really powdery. But this high-light is gorgeous for the summer! I used this product in my post called Summer dewy glow! Check it out! http://lavieenmauve-jj.blogspot.ca/2014/05/motd-summer-glowydewy-look.html

I'm not a big clinique girl but everyone and their mama has been raving about this so I thought I would try it and so far I do believe its worth the hype! I love this gel moisturizer because its a gel. It sinks into my skin right away and doesn't leave a greasy residue and its a great "moisture surge" for your skin. I use it on my face and especially on my little dry patches and I can see a difference already!

Hope this gives you some ideas for things to pick up this summer. These are some items I've been loving especially in May! These products are all great for the summer and I would highly recommend them to everyone!!

MAC Haul: Alluring Aquatic, Pedro Lourenço Collections and more!

I have definitely broken the bank this month on makeup but sometimes I can't help myself! The things MAC has come up with this month are simply beautiful. The first collection is called Alluring Aquatics and it was instantly famous for its aqua coloured packaging and raised water drop look. It was really cool and the colours of the products were really nice for the summer! I also bought one item from the Pedro Lourenço collection which was the powder blush duo. Lastly, I picked up a few items that I've been meaning to try for a while now which is Mac's Girl About Town  and the infamous Fix+ spray. Also Lorde's new lipstick came out today and I bought the lipstick called Pure Heroin which I am so excited to wear in the fall! Pictures are below!

Pedro Lourenço Powder Blush Duo in Coral
Alluring Aquatic Extra Dimension Bronzer in Delphic
Alluring Aquatic Extra Dimension Eyeshadow in Sea Worship
Alluring Aquatic Extra Dimension Blush in Sea Me, Hear Me
Alluring Aquatic Lipstick in Enchanted One, and Goddess of the Sea
Duo Powder Blush that is so beautiful mixed or seperately applied. The lighter pink is matte and the darker mauve colour has a light sheen to it. Would look great in the fall!
Mac's Extra Dimension Eye Shadow in Sea Worship is such a gorgeous shade that is beautiful on the lid with some mascara and a soft brown in the crease to add some dimension!
Mac's Extra Dimension blush in Sea Me, Hear Me which is a beautiful mauve-pink blush with a peach undertone (hard to explain) and it simply beautiful because it gives a sheen to the cheek!
Lipsticks in Enchanted One which is a Matte nude colour that works for medium/tan skin. It's really nice because while it is a matte it isn't drying and it doesn't tug at your lips when applying. And Goddess of the Sea which is a really pretty plummy purple shade that would look stunning with a tan!
A great setting spray to refresh your face while holding your makeup in place this summer!
Mac's Mini Pigment in Melon is such a pretty shade to pop on all over the lid this summer with a soft brown in the crease and some liner! And the price is fitting because the pigment is mini but will last so long as most pigments do!
Lorde's Pure Heroine Lipstick from her collection. This lipstick is a cross over of Mac's Cyber and Heroine. It's a striking lipstick for those who like a vampy look!
Girl About Town is a beautiful pink with blue undertones. It is such a nice colour to pair with a simple cat eye this summer!

So obviously the trend with most my purchases is that they're meant to be suitable for summer. I am loving the idea of just simple one eyeshadow looks and bright lips! I know I went a little crazy but these items were purchased over the span of a month and I was mainly compelled to buy them because of Mac's free express shipping with the launch of every collection. Just make sure to choose carefully and not purchase anything just for the hype.
